It was found as a consequence of hybridization of Kidd’s Orange Red and Golden Delicious in New Zealand in 1960. Fruit flesh is yellowish, watery and hard. The fruit has red as top colour on yellow background. It grows strength; and expands towards ground when branches are open wide. It has an easy-to-manage tree structure. When dwarf trees are used, its growth can be controlled. It has continuous and high crop productivity. It is medium-vulnerable to fire blight disease and blackspot bruising. Ideal fruit is obtained by thinning.

Melrose

Its trees are broad and grow at middle-strength. Its fruit is middle-sized, round and uniform. Fruit rind is crimson and thin. Fruit flesh is brittle, hard, watery, sweet and fragrant. It is a perfect table variety which is early-yielding and convenient for freight. Therefore; fruits can be kept on trees until they are well-coloured. Crops are collected at the end of July. Number of days between full blossoming and harvest is 90-100 days. It is a summertime variety recommended for all regions where apple is cultivated. Its pollinators are Granny Smith and Black Stayman Improved.

Fuji Nr.1

It is coloured better than Standard Fuji and it is quite red. Its fruit flesh is white, brittle and watery. It is a variety with long storage lifetime. It grows strong. It should be carefully pruned annually. It ripens in late period. It is harvested 200 days after blossoming. It is a self-compatible variety; and Golden Delicious, Mondial Gala andBraeburn can be used as pollinators for it. Plant spacing should be 7x7m if grafted on seedling; 1x3m or 1x3.5m if grafted on M9; and 2.5x4m if grafted on MM106 or M7.

Red Jonathan

Its trees grow middle-strong, semi-erect, broad and bush. It is semi-erect and broad-shaped. Its fruit is middle-sized; its colour is like washed with red on green background. It is round-shaped and of very high quality. Number of days between full blossoming and harvest is 135-140. Its storage period is not very long; but it is very durable in freighting. Crops are collected in the first week of September. Its pollinator is Golden Delicious. It is recommended for Marmara and Aegean regions.

Golden Delicious Reinders

It has USA origin. It was discovered as a bud mutation of Golden Delicious in 1959. Its trees grow dwarfs; erect, and slightly open; and is very productive. Its fruit is good-sized and in golden yellow. It has a proper shape and of very high quality. Harvest time is the second week of September. Its pollinators are Starkrimson Delicious, Starking Delicious and Jonathan. Plant spacing may be 5x3 m, 6x3 m or maximum 5x4 m depending on soil strength. It requires fertile soil, strong rootstock, careful fruit thinning, more fertilizer and water and strong pruning.

Decosta Jonagold de Coster

It is the hybrid of Jonathan X Golden Delicious (Cornel University, Geneva 1943). Its trees grow very strong and expanding. It blossoms in middle season. Its fruits are watery, sweet and slightly more acidic than Golden Delicious. It is 30-70% striped and pale orange red. It is redder in abundant sunlight. It is very good-sized. It displays slightly smaller habitus on dwarf rootstocks.
