Williams
It is a variety of British origin and its trees grow semi-erect and strong; are early-yielding; late-blossoming and regular-yielding. As it is in our country; it is among the most commonly-grown high-quality varieties in pear-cultivating countries. It is known as Bartlet in the USA. Its fruits are good-sized; and conical-shaped. Its fruit rind is light greenish – yellow and has red-pink cheeks in parts subject to sunlight. The fruit is suitable for both fresh consumption and industrial use. It can be preserved in cold storage houses for a long period of time. It is well adapted to BA 29 rootstock. Harvest time is the last week of August in Marmara region. Its pollinators are Williams, Abate Fetel, Akça, B. Hardy and Passe Crassane.
